Beauty salon to double in size

Plans have been drawn up to double the size of a Burgess Hill beauty salon which is hoping to expand into a neighbouring shop.

Head to Toe Therapy, which opened at 32 Church Road seven years ago, has applied for planning permission and if all goes well should reveal its new look in May. The health and beauty studio would then have six treatment rooms with a new member of staff joining the team bringing the total to five full-time therapists, one part-time therapist and three part-time receptionists.

Owner Christina Bennett said she was very excited about the future. She had wanted to expand the business for some time and when the opportunity arose to take over the former estate agents’ premises next door she jumped at the chance. ‘The timing is not great because of the recession but we couldn’t ignore the opportunity. Our busiest time of the year is the summer and for the last three years we have been turning people away because we couldn’t fit them in,’ said Christina.

The new space would enable additional treatments to be offered including Reiki, a system of natural healing, and a Dermalogica skin bar where people can call in for skin care advice. One of the three new rooms would be large enough to allow two people, husband and wife or two friends, to be treated together at the same time.

Christina said she had noticed over recent years that life was becoming more stressful for her customers and their relaxation time at her studio increasingly important. ‘We are a warm and friendly salon and aim to keep treatments short and sweet for customers who have little time but we also enjoy the company of those who like a chat over a cup of tea.’

Beauty Awards - 16 May 2005

South East & London Regional Beauty Awards

As some of our earlier clients may remember soon after opening the studio late May 2002 we were one of four short-listed salons nominated as the best new beauty salon in the country in the 2002 Matis National Awards. The award was for studios that had been open for less than 2 years. At the same time we were also one of three short-listed businesses for the 2002 Sussex New Business of the Year awards. At the time we commented that hopefully we wouldn’t keep being the bridesmaid.

Well earlier this month we were again nominated for two further awards. These were the Matis South East & London Regional 2004 Beauty Awards – Fastest Growing Salon of the Year and Best Regional Salon. We are pleased to say we won the fastest growing salon award but lost out to a more established London salon in the Best Regional award category.

We feel we have done well because we try to put our customers first. Our aim from the start has been to provide a professional, personalised and friendly approach to our clients. In part this was achieved by offering our clients the best products and treatments available on the market. We have also encouraged, motivated and developed our therapists. These two themes have been the foundation of our success.

Well over half our customers have been referred to us by existing clients and we would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. We can assure you all that we will continue to endeavour to provide the best service we can.
